Three Points of Interest

What an incredible week this has been for Shawn Johnson and Kris Allen! In case you haven’t heard, on Tuesday night Johnson was announced as America’s favorite celebrity dancer on Dancing with the Stars. Allen was named as the winner of this year’s American Idol contest. From what I’ve read, both were considered underdogs, Kris Allen more so than Shawn Johnson. The selection of both also seems to reflect, on the part of those who chose to vote, a preference for role models who are clean-cut and down-to-earth. What do you think?

Our friend Jim Martin has written an excellent piece titled Dealing with Discouragement. If you have ever experienced discouragement or if you think there is the slightest possibility that you might experience it some time in the future this is a must read post. In fact, I recommend you make Jim’s blog, A Place for the God-Hungry, a daily stopping place for spiritual sustenance.

Royce Ogle has published a report of a breakfast meeting he recently attended. The speaker was the local parish sheriff. Should you decide to click through and read this post, I don’t want to spoil it for you with too many details. Here’s the link. I do think you’ll be interested in reading about the secret weapon Ouachita Parish Sheriff Royce Toney has for reducing the crime rate in his parish.

Blessings to all,

Bill

Thx for posting this Bill.. I’ll have to check out those links.

An interesting tidbit about Idol.. Kris’ home state of Arkansas sent in 38 million votes. Arkansas has less then 3 million population. Gotta hand it to those razorbacks.. and their speed-dialing super-texting phones :)
