What happens when we earnestly seek God?

Hebrews 11:6 says that those who come to God must believe that He exists and He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. As I was reflecting on Psalm 63 earlier, two rewards received by God-seekers seemed clear. Reflect with me on the first five verses:

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. -Psalm 63:1-5, NLT

Do you see the point? Like David, when our souls are genuinely thirsty for God, will be both satisfied and stirred!

May God help each of us to see Him more clearly. May God help us all stand in awe of His glory and might. May God help us all to be satisfied in Him and stirred to let our lives sing out in praise of His majesty!

I’ve been studying Psalms 51:10-12. I learned the associated song a few years back at camp. Even knowing the “sin” behind the Psalm, I can’t help but feel a deep seeking towards God. David uses the word “create”. He’s not asking to mend, replace or cover over the corruptness in his heart. He is asking his Almighty God to create in him a cleaness he onced possessed and has lost. I too need this, but not for the same reasons. I too often am bombarded with the issues of life that cloud my focus on God and after a thickening of my heart, I need God to create in me a clean heart and to bring me back to the place where I devoted my whole heart to Him. I need the renewing of spirit. My own and the Holy Spirit. This Psalm calls for a response that I cannot ignore.
Thank you my brother for sharing your insight to the Psalms and giving me a reason to pick up my pen again.

I’ve been thinking a lot about earnestly seeking God as it was impressed upon my heart. Spiritual Oasis defines Ps 63.
